How do I paint without painting?
You can try to use a stripper, but it will be expensive, smelly and quite messy. It may also damage the wood depending on what type of wood floor you have. Sanding is the best if it is a traditional wood floor. It is best to hire a company to do this due to the fact that if you are not careful you can cause more damage than good. If you are unsure as to what type of floor you have get an estimate from a flooring comany, the estimates are usually free and then you will know what you can do and how much it will cost.

The only way to get hardwood floor looking like new is to sand, stain and polyurethane them. It is a huge, heavy and drity job. We just did a large house that we are rehabbing and it was work with a capital W. Be very careful when you sand so you dont leave grooves in the floor. I have contracted out to have this done in the past and sure would consider hiring a contractor if I do it in the future. It was a lot more work than I counted on plus we had a lot of problems with the rented sanders. By the time we paid for the equipment and all the supplies, we really didnt save all that much.

Probably not.
There are products on the market that claim to revitalize your hardwood floors but they don't really work..or just for a very short time.
do be careful of letting your floors get "to" worn you can do irreversible damage.

you have to do some form of sanding. there are 2 ways I know of. get a commerical sander or if you could find some rental place that has the vaccum system to hook up to a buffer. I have both and it does a good job either way...the buffing is a bit quicker and easier, and very dust free.
