It just doesn't ring when the button is pushed. I'd also like a different button installed.

If you want to try it yourself, doorbells are very safe to work on because both the voltage and current are very well limited by the transformer.

Buy the new button that you want.

Remove the old button.

Touch the ends of the wires together. If the bell rings then just install the new button.

If it did not, then you need to have an electrician diagnose whether the transformer needs to be replaced or whether there is a broken wire or whether the bell is bad.

An electrician or you could do it yourself. It is not a hard job. It is normally low voltage and not a difficult task to do.

chances are it's just button they are not hard to replace

there is a wireless one with Carma.. don't wast your rewireing it.. plus transformer will get you shock. check one on eBay.. bye sweetly pie
