I'm trying to buy one of those things that slides underneath a bedroom/any door and it keeps it from shutting. I've tried searching under "door stopper" but the only thing that pulls up are the attachments you hook to the wall to keep it from banging into the wall. I've tried "door slides." It pulls up sliding doors. I'm baffled at what to search under...please help!

We live in the land of water conservation (good) and low-flow shower heads (boo). A plumber actually removed a plastic gizmo inside the shower-head, but it didn't really improve the flow. Is there anything else that can be done to soup up the power? Thanks...

Morning all,

I'm from Madison,WI. A few months ago I posted about having a roach problem. The roaches are showing back up,even after the landord and handyman sprayed all of the areas where they'd show up. I am trying the boric acid part now here as we speak. I want to know what are the best ways to prevent roaches from showing back up in apartment ?

Thank for your time and help with this.

Just bought a house. Made awesome deal. But there is only one problem that hardwood floors are in very bad condition; I mean it needs polish very badly. I don’t know how many years ago they polished it last time. After paying for 20% down for the house and appliances the budget is very tight, so I thought that my husband and me should do it by our self. I know we can do it. So guys please help. Give me some links to get info how to do it? And need tips from your experience too. And for supplies, HOME DEPOT or WHAT? What is the best store for supplies? Thanks a lotttttttt in advance. 5 star promise for help. But more then that, my blessings for you all.

I live on the top floor of a three story brick building. Since I moved in nearly three years ago, I have heard the sound of debris falling from the ceiling to the floor behind my plaster walls. Whereas previously I heard the sound every couple of months, it's been more common recently--as frequently as every couple of days.

It sounds like chipped plaster falling.

I hear it in two separate rooms, though those are the rooms I spent the greatest amount of time in, so I may not be noticing if it is happening in other rooms.

The noises happen in the wall that is an exterior wall facing west, as well as those that are perpendicular to the west exterior wall, but are interior.

The building was recently spot tuckpointed.

Anyone have an idea of what's causing the mystery noise? It's definitely happening within the walls, as opposed to something outside the building. Any help is appreciated!

I just got a hand me down older John Deere 175 riding mower. All the attachments were off of it and I am trying to figure out how to attach the mower deck. Does anyone know where to find exploded views or manuals for older John Deere mowers online? I've almost got it on, but cant figure out how to attach a couple of the suspension bar / leveler things.
I don't really want to buy one, cause the father in law says he has it, just has not found it yet.

I have 12000 BTU split airconditioner that for some reason shuts off automatically. It's not the timer. An A/C tch said it was the board, but had that changed and still the same problem. When it shuts off the timer light blinks. When it shuts off I use the remote to shut it off and then on again and it stays on for a good 45 min to an hour then shuts off again. HELP IT'S HOT! (and I'm broke so a new one is out of th question)

I just recently bought a house in queens, ny and realized that the access point for the septic tank was located inside the basement. Is it necessary to have an access point for the septic tank? Can I move it outside to the backyard? Do I need a permit from the city? And what's the cost range for all this work?

appreciate any answers. Thanks.

I have a 30-inch slide in range and the glass on the oven door just shattered all over the floor. (My fault - a heavy pitcher I was taking out of dish washer slipped and hit the oven door) Just a freak accident. The range is 11 years old. Approximate cost of a new glass? I'd have a serviceman install it. They charge $65 just to come out. Should I replace or buy a new range?

I have several interior doorknobs with no screws. They are "Dexter" brand and at least 40 years old (I think originals from when house was built).

How do I remove them? I have tried reading other responses to similar questions but I have almost zero home improvement experience and the responses confused me a bit.

Some of the knobs have a small pin-sized hole on the exterior side, dead center in the front of the knob--putting a paperclip thru there didn't do anything.

Most of the knobs have a very small, narrow rectangular-shaped hole on the interior side, on the "neck" of the knob near where it meets the face plate (I think this is what it is called--the circular metal part that is in on the door). I have tried pressing against that with a screwdriver, sticking things in it (ie, a paperclip), etc nothing seems to do anything. It doesn't feel like I am hitting anything "springy" either that would release the interior side of the knob.

How do I get these knobs off

I'm moving up in the world, yes. I have my first fridge with an automatic ice maker. I live alone. I don't use that much ice. A thought occured to me: the water from the plumbing in the kitchen goes through a flimsy plastic tubing that runs to the fridge. I know there is a vaccum effect, but the water remains in the "line" until there is a demand from the icemaker. Some of it may be there for weeks in my case. Is there a condition of vaccum sufficient enough to keep bacteria from breeding? Is it the same as buying bottled water, considering shelf life and all that?
What do you think?
I would also like to hear from people who also KNOW, and their sources.
Just one more thing to worry about in our overly cautious and neurotic society! LOL!
Thanks.
