I have a 5 year old roper supersized dryer that is no longer dryer on one cycle, however the dryer is getting hot. Does anyone have an idea of what the problem could be? All suggestions and ideas will help. Thanks.

can tell you all about your dryer and how it works, but if I understand your question correctly - the dryer is not working on automatic cycle, but will work ok on timed dry ?
Just use it on timed dry as the automatic cycle is a little complicated.

Check Your lint filter, and the trap where it goes out the home.If it does not work at all on only one setting but works on others check timer. If is tumbling would be Hot air not circulating which would be lent build up also your heating element could be working but not good enough.Hold safety door button down with finger and turn dryer on look to back of dryer for a bright orange glow.

I don't know if this will help you, but if you have a wire mesh lint filter in your dryer and you use the dryer sheets form of fabric softener, you may have an invisible build-up on your lint filter. To find out, take your lint filter to the sink and run water through it. If the water does run through, then it's ok. If the water does not run through, then you need to clean the filter. You can do this easily by brushing it with an ordinary dish detergent type cleaner and water. We were incredulous when we encountered this tip, but when we tried it, we were astonished. Our lint filter did not let any water pass through. And it looked perfectly clean. Clean it every six months to keep it working.

It may be that the exhaust vent is full of lint etc. Take it apart and use a long brush and see if you can pull anything out. Mine had not been cleaned in 8 years and it started drying really slow, although it was hot. If this is only on one cycle, it could be in the electronics, but it is good to clean the lint out much further down than the lint filter. Good luck.

confirm that your dryer vent isn't clogged by checking the amount of airflow exiting the vent outside during the dryer cycle. this should correspond with the amount of airflow exiting directly from the dryer with the vent hose disconnected.

It could have a broken drive belt at the back (which is what happened to mine, although I'm not familiar with your brand). In my case it was a simple repair, using a spare part from an electrical repair store

Clean it out really good, the vents and ducts boths. Just because it is getting hot doesn't mean the air is circulating properly.

Does it tumble the clothes? Check for a blocked vent hose. Or clogged filter screen.
