How can I fix my laundry room door so that it doesn't scrape or get stuck against the floor?

I've got a queen size bedroom set but upgraded to a king size bed (standard mattress type). I was thinking about using plywood and wood supports to set the new king size box on top of the old queen. Of course, the headboard and footboards would not be the proper size but I don't think I'll mind the 6 inch or so overhang. Has anyone tried this or seen it done? Thanks!

I have a Baxi combi boiler (installed just over a year ago) and it has ran fine (opperating around 1.5-2bar) up until the 1 year warranty ran out (sods law!). Now when the system is off the pressure goes right down to 0bar. When I turn the heating on it goes up to 3bar. I have checked for leaks and bends/blocks in the flexi pipes (which there aren't any) and also bled the system. When I turn the heating on (from 0bar pressure) the boiler makes cluncking sounds. Anyone have any ideas before I fork out a tonne for the plumbers? Thanks

This Craftsman garage door opener is about 6-7 years old. Recently, the wall mount unit (that opens the garage door from inside the garage) stopped working, and the little green light on the gray button that opens the door went from a solid green light to a flashing green light. The remote control openers still work and the keypad unit just outside the garage still works. No one seems to have an answer to this problem, and I would hate to pay Sears the ridiculous service repair fee to fix what may be an easy problem. Does anyone out there have any suggestions? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 52 or 55 inch tv. I have had it since about the year 2000. The problem is there is no model number on the tv so I cannot diagnose the problem. A couple of months ago there was apower surge in my house and the tv blanked out. Now when i plug it in it just makes a ticking sound like it's on a timer. What is this and how can I fix it?

How do you change a two prong electrical socket into a three prong (grounded) socket in an older house? What are things I should watch for?

Links to ‘how-to’ would be awesome!

Thanks!

I am curious as to about how much it would cost to paint (house currently has lead paint) the inside of an 8-room house (two floors), completely remodel the bathroom and kitchen, sand the hardwood floors, wallpaper all rooms, and put down new linoleum on the kitchen floor and update all the electrical outlets (service has been updated from the street and in the cellar). The house has new windows and a new heating system. Hopefully, answers will be from construction people who have experience. Thanks!

Essentially this is a 1,296 SF home and the old furnace is a 65K btu furnace. I was told before replacing the furnace I need to do a load calcuation or calculate according the Manual J specifications. What is wrong exactly with using the OLD btu rating on the old furnace. Only things that have been really changed is a new door and some new 2nd floor windows.

I just bought a house. The previous owners took the gas logs with them, but the tank and lines are still there. I bought a NEW set of Vent Free Gas Logs to replace them. How much should I expect to pay for a professional to come hook them up? (im in SC)

Also, It looks like all I would have to do is hook the logs up to the line and test for leaks. Should I try this myself? I dont want to blow up the house! Ha =)

It seems everybody I've spoken with is pretty rude, and I haven't gotten a clear explanation of anything.

A settlement check will be written out for me and my mortgage company. How is the money released to me?

Rather than having one contractor come out and do everything (roof, garage door, rebuild walls) for a price near the total settlement (close to $20,000) can I outsource it myself to separate companies to save myself some money (and keep it)?

I'm completely clueless and haven't had anybody who will talk to me.

Please give me a little help.
