I've got a queen size bedroom set but upgraded to a king size bed (standard mattress type). I was thinking about using plywood and wood supports to set the new king size box on top of the old queen. Of course, the headboard and footboards would not be the proper size but I don't think I'll mind the 6 inch or so overhang. Has anyone tried this or seen it done? Thanks!

cherry, you may be right but just like any bedroom set under $5000 .... I won't get anything trying to sell it. Also, like any bedroom set you simply can't find or buy the bed alone. It's a big old ash set with a cannonball style bed. Impossible to even find something similar to match. :(
