I have a 52 or 55 inch tv. I have had it since about the year 2000. The problem is there is no model number on the tv so I cannot diagnose the problem. A couple of months ago there was apower surge in my house and the tv blanked out. Now when i plug it in it just makes a ticking sound like it's on a timer. What is this and how can I fix it?

Sounds like you learned a very expensive lesson, ALWAYS PLACE EXPENSIVE OR IRREPLACABLE ELECTRICAL ITEMS ON SURGE PROTECTORS. I would have to say that you blew the tube. No help there. It is about the same price to replace tube as it is to replace TV.
