My neighbor has a large over grown tree, roots are growing toward my pool, patio & house foundation. We are pouring new concrete around the pool and a new patio slab. if I pull out the roots and pour salt of them will that kill them or keep them from growning back? Any other ideas?

I just ran across it on Google with no information about it. I'd love to see more images of it, too. The picture linked here looks like the flower is not fully bloomed.

I started a garden this year in Alaska and I have a lot of questions (and surprisingly, a lot growing!). But my first problem is my pumkins, I started them indoors in April and took them outside on Mother's Day. The plant is growing like crazy but I only have a few small pumkins, the biggest is about the size of a grapefruit. Will it grow fast enough to ripen by Halloween? How can I get it to grow faster, and how can I do this better next year? (I also have yellow squash with the same problems...) I appreciate any help, especially any resources so I can avoid these problems later. :)

This is just a question that creeped into my bored mind during the robotic chore of mowing my lawn. Obviously, when you cut the grass it is chopped off with a single horizontal blade which leaves a straight cut at the top of the plant. But by the time it's time to cut the grass again, the plant has grown into a point at the top.
