Roses do not do well as house plants but with planning it can be done. They love sun but do not like heat. The best indoor location to provide enough light is a southern facing greenhouse window that allows sunlight from many angles. The problem is roses are temperate plants from the northern hemisphere. Sitting in the sunny window without a fan or ventillation to contol the heat will injure the plant. The rose will try to transpire (sweat in plants) faster than it can take water from the soil. This means the rose uses a LOT of water. They do not tolerate dry soil neither do they tolerate sitting in a saucer of water. So managing their water in summer is constant.
Next is the container size. Even microminiature roses like 'Tom Thumb' or 'Si' need a 1 gallon pot. Many get large enough to need a 7 gallon pot.

Roses need to go dormant, they must have a cool period for them to live very long because they evolved in the the northern hemisphere.
All of my miniatures grow outdoors even if in pots. They get the sun without cooking in a window.
Look at Ralph Moore's Halo series for fabulous roses to grow. http://www.sequoianursery.biz/min4.html

Water when the soil is dry. No roses like "wet feet" so soak the pot in water for an hour about once a week but don't leave the pot in the water. How often depends on the kind of soil, how big is the pot, how big is the plant and how dry the atmosphere in your home.

Miniature roses need to be lightly fertilized once a month. Water when soil is dry, I recommend putting your finger in and if it's dry up to the first knuckle it's time to water. Sunshine is necessary, but don"t put it too close to the glass of a window.
Re-pot in the fall if necessary. Hope this helps
