Honeysuckle, Wisteria, Viburnum are a few. Japanese Maple is beautiful but expensive.

What zone? There are dwarf crabapples such as Sir Lancelot or Sargent, the Thundercloud plum is OK, maybe a shrub pruned into a tree....buckthorn, Euonymus alatus, hmmm.

A crepe myrtle makes a nice small tree, with flowers in the summer.

A dwarf pear tree is nice, flowers in the spring, fruit in the fall, shade all summer long.

Dogwood trees are relatively cheap and don't get too big too fast. Thundercloud plum is cheap and nice too....Fall is for planting , so wait till next spring and buy leftover last years stock. it will usually be a lot cheaper than the full price that you'll pay now....

Try the guava. Looks like a small forest. Has great fruit. That is if you live in a warm area.
