I made the mistake of planting mixed "perennial garden" and "daisy garden" seed packs in an area that I cleared out this winter. Most weeds (I think) I have been able to identify, and I am faithfully watering and caring for the remaining plants. However, there is one that I am afraid may be a weed, it's growing fairly large, right now it's about 15". The stem has narrow vertical 'ridges' on it , I counted five around. The leaves are fairly large, about 4-5". I scanned a leaf, how do I post a picture? If anyone can help me, I'd appreciate it!

I have a 10000 sq ft lot with around 20 large maple trees around 150 to 200 ft each. Do people pay for these trees? heard from friend that sawmills will pay thousands for good lot of trees. Is this true? what about getting someone to clear it for me for free in exchange for firewood.?

My neighbor has said he doesn't care about his yard, so he's unlikely to do anything to treat it. He also lets the dandelions go to seed, and mows without a bag. Our yards are the only ones in the neighborhood that don't use a chemical service throughout the year. I'm willing to use Round-Up and start all over, but is there any point if the neighbor doesn't do anything? I'd prefer to stay organic if possible.

This hummingbird has a black head and a white stripe around his throat. I call him Bully because when the other hummers come to the feeder he literally flies into them and bonks them. He ran off this really pretty hummer with a red throat that I liked alot too. He seems to think this is HIS feeder. Is this normal behavior? I would like to see the other birds too. Is "Bully" just a psycho hummingbird or are they naturally territorial?

Should I hang other feeders? Would that help?

i've decided to plant a garden, its actually my first time doing it alone. I live in Illinois and I plan to grow lettuce, tomatoes, carrotts and strawberries. I was told that is you grab a fist of dirt and is breaks apart when you let is go it meant it was good soil to plant in. well i did that and it kinda klumped together. now I know this is bad since the plants wont be able to grow right. my question is what to i do to make is more loose or not as dry.
