I was looking at 1800flowers.com, I don't know what to get. I need a plant that does not need a lot of sunlight and grows well indoors. Her office is next to a window however it's on 5th avenue in manhattan and a lot of buildings block sunlight.

There's a plant called a China Doll that does great indoors, in a window with some (but not constant) sun. You can also "train" a China Doll with careful cutting and patience to look like a little tree.

Go to a nursery instead of ordering from the internet. Those internet florists just contract the job out to any local florist, some of whom do a crappy job.

An orchid would work well. They're very beautiful and very easy to grow. I've known people who are horrible with plants have much success with orchids, because they are so low maintenance. Plus, orchids are highly regarded for their beauty so it's a great gift. I agree with Britnaa, contact a local florist not one of those 1-800 places, the quality is much better. Hope this helps! Good luck.

Do NOT order from 1800flowers.com or Hallmark or Teleflora... I am a florist. I work with them, and they are horrible! You will get much more for your money if you call a local florist and have them take care of the order for you. Aside from that, a good plant for low light would be: Pathos, Spath, White butterfly, etc... or you could just ask for a lowlight plant....
