There are roughly 10,000 different species of grasses. These vary considerably in size.

Depends on the turf grass species. Some can get quite long, a foot at least, but they flop over. (If we are talking ornamental grasses, some can easily get 6 feet long) When mowing, try cutting to 1 1/2 to 4 inches in height. Blue grass would be the 1 1/2 or so, but fescues can be allowed to grow to 4 inches and still look fine. (Plus the longer the blade, the more drought tolerant the plant......longer blades, the deeper the root development and the longer blades help shade the soil thus reducing drying)

well I would have thought it depends on where the grass is if its in a place where its been allowed to grow and not been cut, I have seen blades of grass very tall indeed. Also you can get different types of grass and this would grow differently to others. I am sure a hardened gardener will be able to tell you what they think but I think you will get all sorts of answers.

I have the tallest grass in town and this is my secret.

I buy a large bag of salt and sprinkle it all over the grass.
This makes it very thirsty.

I then put the sprinkler on - and when the grass comes out for a drink, I quickly tie a knot in it so it can't go back!

Before or after the lawnmower? Grass grows as much as 24-36 inches in length. Most lawns have a cut height of an inch or inch and a half.

Too many variables. Each lawn and soil are different. There is no set amount some lawns will be thicker than others. Good luck.

It is as tall as its variety dictates. As there are many varieties I guess you have a choice! Choose the height you like best and good luck!
