Plant cluster is dense. There are a few shoots growing out from main clump. Doesn't appear to have spread very fast but grew quickly in the spring. Leaf shape is not the typical bamboo, notl ong and slender.

Our back yard slopes down to a greenbelt with a small lake. The fence at the bottom has slats spaced about 5" apart so they don't block the view. A little rabbit hangs out at the bottom of the slope sometimes. I would like to plant some things for him/her to eat, and also create some shelter. I know they like things like piles of brush, but we have neighborhood covenants so I couldn't do anything like that. Any suggestions?

I would like to put a tree in my yard with flowers for some color. I have an inground pool. Last year we removed a pine tree and a huge maple. Leaves and needles were crazy in and around the pool. I would plant the tree about 40' from pool. Need something that isn't real messy like NO fruit trees etc. Website with pic appreciated.
Thank You

I want a waterfall type fish pond in the back yard. We live in Florida. My husband is concerned about it attracting snakes. We do have occassional Water Moccasins and Rat Snakes around, but not alot. Is there anything we could do to keep them away? What is your opinion?

I know I shouldn't do it, but the roots are all over my veggie garden and the darn thing now shades my whole garden. The neighbor couldn't care less about the tree, but he refuses to cut it down or let me do so. So how do I kill the darn thing in such a way that is not obvious?

I know someone just asked about keeping them from veggies, but what about flowers? I can't fence in my whole flower beds. They eat all the leaves they can reach on my flowers and plants. I have tried dish soap spray, red pepper, etc....nothing seems to work and they are eating all the stuff I buy and plant. Help!

I bought a big potted NGI and forgot to put it in the shade. It sat on my driveway for a day in 90 degree sunshine. Is there a good way to perk it back up again? It's inside in a cool dark hallway today. I have some Jerry Baker Books, if you can name any of his potions that would help. I hadn't decided whether to keep it in the pot or plant it in my shade bed.

Before she died, our female dog would be on a rope in the front yard to urinate. Now that shes gone (sadly), there is a half circle of dead BLEAH in the yard. no grass, a TINY bit of moss, and hard, brittle soil.

Its my understanding that female dog urine is either so acidic or alkaline that it ruins the chemical balance.

My question is what products are available to restore the fertility of the soil, or do i need to re-layer topsoil into the lawn, then seed/sod?

Thanks.

Hi,
I had a question about using cow manure as fertilizer. I have seen some slightly conflicting rules as to the use of manure. Specifically, does the manure need to be composted for the typical 2-3 months before being used?

Some sources have referred to using "fresh" manure. I thought there was a requirement for farms to have livestock separated from any food crop because of the worry about getting food contamination from the animals. Can you clarify?

Thanks

I have a large rock behind my house that I want to move into my landscaping. I have to get this rock through my 4 foot wide gate that is in my 6 foot tall iron fence and move this rock about 30 feet total. I estimate this rock to be about 400 pounds. I cannot get any large earth moving equipment back there since it would destroy other peoples property. Does anyone have any suggestion how to move this rock?

I have just started growing some mint outside in a large pot on a balcony which gets sunlight from 3pm to sunset british time.
Will this be bad for the plant or will it be ok if kept watered.
Also is it possible to bring the plant indoors for the winter and still be able to use the leaves.

We just dug our fish pond beside this huge rock that would make a great water fall type thing. The rock is on one side of the pond. I have never had a fish pond before. How do i put the liner on the rock? There is no way i can put it under and if i put it over, the rock would be pointless. We have to use the rock. Its beautiful and to big to move. Any suggestions? Is there any way we can glue the liner or get it to stick to the rock somehow?

I have a huge tree in my backyard. It has started decaying and cracking at the very bottom. I am afraid it might fall on my neighbor's property. I am doing by best to get a professional tree cutting company to get the tree cut, but either their prices are way too high ($4000+) or they don't show up. In case if it falls then I want to know who will bear the responsibility. Thanks.
