I'm using railraod ties to border a patio and to create steps down a steep bank in my yard. I was going to drill holes and use rebar to hold the ties. What length rebar do you suggest or would you use a different method?

I have an area about 20 ft. away from the well and I want to spray individual weeds and brush. I will be spraying directly on each weed, so I don't think much would get on the ground. I plan to use Round Up Quick Pro.

So my pretty little tomato plants are fruiting. I've noticed some "blossom end rot" and have heard this is due to calicum deficiency or unpredictable watering or both.

Also, the leaves are curling up and leathery and I have heard that this also may be a virus. Advice please? I'm so bummed!

You know, the kind you always see hanging with flowers overflowing from the pot. I bought 5 plastic hanging pots today and potting soil.

I have no idea what kind of flowers to plant to get that "overflowing" look or how to plant them or anything. Does anyone have tips? Thanks!

I am looking for suggestions on plants that are evergreen fairly narrow 2 feet ish and will grow 6-15 feet. I am willing to trim them 2-3 times a yr to keep them withing my standard, I need them to be deer resistant, able to grow in Zone 7, and not be a juniper. Goal is to block the main view of the electrical box on the house and a second to balance the plan.

I laid the fine, clean dirt down for vegetables and a few flowers and I can see I clearly have forgotten something. I'll have pure mud if I work with this. Do I need to go to Lowe's or somewhere like that and buy a few huge bags of something? Please help, I thought I'd have this done today and I am sitting here laughing at my stupidity! Patricia

I bought wipe-out to kill dandelions. I thought it would kill the dandelions but not a half feet of grass all around it. I really tried to put the product carefully on the root but it really messed up the grass. Now my front yard is full of yellowish grass patches. Any advice on how to bring it back and did I used it wrong? If I used it right, this product is really a bad idea.

What is the best way to plant herbs in with the rest of the vegetables in my garden?
Is it necessary to plant them separately/ away from the other vegetables?

I live in a smallish town in So OR and on a city lot in an average tract home area. We have very strict fence building codes, nothing over 3 ft high across the front of the property nor 20 feet back from the sidewalk, and then it can be 5 ft tall.
I have little money, but I am sick to death of neighbors gawking into my yard because they have nothing better to do. I want more privacy just so they won't feel free to judge me ??????? Any good shrubs that grow fast in zone 7, photinia is the fast growing shrub of choice here and also, if I could take cuttings off something I can raise plants well, I have a green thumb. Landscapers, any help ? I don't think the city will bother me with tall shrubs, only fences ?

I bought some plants last year and some survived but others died (despite the assurances of the shop they wouldn't).

What can I plant that is either evergreen or comes back every year, that doesn't mind loving in a pot with sun in the afternoon (west facing) and which won't succumb to frost in winter. The balcony is quite sheltered.

Those that have done well are box, passion flower, lillies, hosta, alium (although not flowering) and those that have died are mimosa and clematis. Any suggestions would be most welcome.

One looks like teenie tiny grasshoppers but are a light brown or tan colour, and the other is a little round black domed circle on the plant, and if you touch it with something it flies away. They are both eating my garden making tiny holes in all the leaves. I'd like to get rid of them but not hurt the birds, cats and dogs I have in my yard. Also run off from my yard will go to a tributary of our local water basin so it can't be poison.
Thank you anyone who knows what do do. : )

I know they need to be pruned occasionally, fed and treated for insects and plant diseases. I just don't know when, how to prune, what to feed them, etc and I am so afraid I will finish them off cuz some of them look rather sickly already. I got some advice at the garden center but they are too busy to really spend any time. I am also trying to find stuff out in books from the library, but I am hoping some of you out there can make what seems really complicated, easier to deal with. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
