In science right now we are doing biology. We went to a forest and we had to take pictures of various plants and identify them. Unfortunately, i cant find these species, or, i don't know exactly how to find what they are called.

Does somebody know the names of these plant species?

I'm south of Chicago. Last year I moved them and they did well. This spring they are 1/2 their size. Did I re-plant too shallow, or too deep? Should I leave them alone this year? Need advice.

Started my whiskey barrel pond about three months ago. I began by scrubbing out the interior several times with water and scouring pad. Then I filled the barrel up and put some water hyacinth in (heard this would help filter out remaining toxins). Put rinsed river rock in the bottom, and bought more plants (anacharis, lily, water lettuce...). Month later I got an apple snail to help with algea and a couple goldfish. Fish die within a couple days (think they didn't have enough oxygen) and the snail is secreting an oily film. Water is cloudy. So I give up on fish (snail lives) and wait another month. Got mosquito dunks. Now I get two more fish and some dechlorinator. I use the recommended dose after changing out some of the water, but the fish are dead the next morning. Now there is a strange red slime on the insides of the barrel! Could this be caused by the dechlorinator? It's never been there before. And why can't I get this ecosystem stable? I have heard people who have no problems!

I have been growing a hybrid variety of Schizanthus and the plants are all hugely different in terms of leaf size, height, stem thickness and speed of growth despite being grown in exactly the same conditions. However, they are all lacking in vigour even though I am giving them the conditions they like- is it the fault of the variety? Could the variety be TOO inbred?

I just bought several cute gnomes for the front yard and they cost a fortune. Now, I'm afraid some teenage punk is going to steal them in the night. Any suggestions for somehow securing them to the ground? Thanks a lot!

I am trying to make a 'wall' of wooden posts up against a 'cliff' of clay soil as part of a garden feature. I hope they will act like a gamion keeping the clay soil from falling onto the lower terrace where our seating is planned. However, trying to keep the 5' posts not only straight and perpendicular but also as close together as possible so they almost touch is proving very difficult. The poles are 5' and it is hoped that they will be at least 1.5 feet into the ground. I am about to try putting in post number 1, leave a post width and then put in post number 3 etc and then after reaching the end go back and put in the 'missing' posts in the hope that they will all stay parallel. However, your suggestions would be most welcome!

They resemble a round race track. Where as, the track itself is bare from grass. There are about 4 of them all different in circumference.

Main question: Are there any flowers or flower seeds that you can plant in gravel?

In my grandma's backyard next to the garage there is a big mound of gravel pebbles mixed with dirt all along the side of the garage. My mom says it's been there since she can remember. It's in the shape of a big rectangle and it comes out about 3 1/2 feet and is the length of the entire side of the garage. It would be such a beautiful spot to put flowers. Any suggestions of how I can work with this spot?

Hi everyone. I'm looking to control a grub issue in my lawn, vegetable, and flower gardens. I prefer to use organic means which leads me to milky spore. Does anyone have any experience with any online suppliers of the stuff? I have about 1500 square feet total that needs to be treated. Also, what is the best time to put milky spore down? Thanks in advance.

We received one last month, planted and watered it according to the directions. (Full sun, loam, raised bed.) Within 3 weeks, the leaves began going brown, shriveling up and falling off.Now the stem has gone black.

A 2nd one was ordered and the same thing is happening. We don't know what is causing this, phoned the company's Customer Service rep who was rude, unhelpful and refused to send any more of their items to us.

We will receive a refund for both rose bushes. But what we REALLY want is to salvage this one if at all possible. It's an old fashioned variety and is supposed to be hardy for our zone (6) and said to come back year after year.

Oh, I looked online and got conflicting reports. Some say it needs shade and can be planted in a 7 gallon container.

We don't know what to believe anymore.

Can anyone here help?
