Well that's a good question. I actually own a landscape company and the best way to get rid of unwanted weeds without killing the grass is to get the root ball out!! pretty much any non organic material will kill the grass and even some of the root is sill in the ground and will reseed it self ... good luck

I spot spray them using a 2-gallon hand-pumped sprayer containing the recommended dilution of a broad-leaf weed killer like Weed-B-Gon. They'll quickly shrivel and die, and grass will fill in the spots where they were, within a month. Follow the directions on the label carefully, of course. If the lawn is mostly weeds, it might be worth your while to let Tru-Green or some such hit it once (then cancel, or they'll come back and spray more every couple weeks).

Get a weed killer that is designed for lawns. Will not hurt the grass but will kill the weeds (including dandelions).

I bought some Weed B Gone and applied to as many as I could this morning. We literally have hundreds if not more. I'm curious though if this product kills the root as well. Does anyone know?
