I have a mulberry tree in my yard and I want to plant more. someone said to take a cutting of the tree I have?

1.For once your deep sand will be an advantage. Mulberries are very adaptable but they do like sand. You can plant cuttings into sand and prunings direct. Mulberry is an excellent fodder source for most animals.
2.I believe the only downfall of growing mulberry's from cuttings is that they are not as strongly rooted (they dont develop the long tap root)

I started 2 mulberry trees from cuttings taken from a tree my neighbor was removing. I cut a piece of relatively new growth that was about 8 to 10 inches long. Then I just stuck it in the ground. I did this with about 6 cuttings. 3 rooted, and I gave away one of them. It is always best to cut and attempt to root more than you actually want, as it increases your odds of getting a cutting to root.
