there is this plant called coleus canina that is supposed to deter rabbits, dogs, cats and i think squirrels from the garden. It gives off an odor that they don't like so they stay away, generally.
I also found a plant that deters mosquitos and so far its working.

For less than $10 you can go to Radio Shack, get a battery holder that holds 2 AA or 3 AAA batteries,(don't forget the batteries) 4 blinking red or green L.E.D.'s, and some tiny wire nuts. Then get an empty pint sized Gator Aid container that looks like an orange with white top Igloo water cooler that you see on the back of service trucks. You will also need a short piece of phone ,doorbell,or speaker wire . This is not hard to do .You will need to drill 2 holes on each side of the container (a tiny bit smaller than the LED's) and about 2 and 1/2 inches apart . Just guess because it does not have to be perfect. ( Think cat eyes) This will end up looking like blinking eyes. The holes should be about 1/4 to 1/2 way down so you can still reach them from the inside for wiring. Before you put the LED's in the holes take 8 short pieces of wire and hook 4 pieces to each battery lead. Try to use different colors for each battery lead.( EG--- 4 short red wires to red battery lead) &(4 short black wires to black battery lead).then hook one red and one black to each LED. If they dont work then switch the red and black wire on the LED. Use the wire nuts to make the connections. Then put a drop of glue around the back edge of each LED and push them in the holes you drilled. Dont let any bare part of the LED lead touch each other because it will kill you're battery. Finish by placing the battery pack in the bottom of the container and screw the top on. Add a screw in type cup or picture hanger in the center of the top for hanging and you then have a night time guard with blinking cat eyes. The batteries will last about 30 to 45 days. It should keep the rabbits out because they are not sure if it is a predator or not. I hope this helps, it worked for me. You can use this in plastic or ceramic figures as well. Good Luck.

Use the urine of a predator. Sounds weird and gross, but you can buy it on the internet and at nurseries. My family uses mountain lion pee to keep out the deer. It works perfectly. You can also buy fox, coyote, and bobcat. All will do the trick. Just use it around the area, not on the plants that you will be eating from.

Don't use old cat litter, you just have to apply more and more, and your soil will get nasty. Dog/cat/people hair is dumb because chances are, it's already there naturally. And like people are going to get a dog to protect their garden patch? What a lame suggestion.

If you have a cat, the easiest and cheapest way is to spread the used cat litter around your garden. Rabbits will not cross the line because of what they smell of a predator.

Apparently soap, eggs, and garlic have been among some of things used to try to repel rabbits. With wind and rain, odors will diminish and repellents will need to be re-applied.

The source article listed other ways also.

Get a dog or sprinkle pepper on and around your plant. The pepper will not hurt your plant.

I have also heard to put hair (I think any kind-human or animal)around your plants.

Hope this helps!
