Even if you got it all over the muffler it won't hurt anything as long as you don't mind it smoking until it burns off.

Well why woulld you do that? Anyways it's not bad, if you dn't mind the smell of burning oil for a while. If it bothers you so much you may want to use Gasoline to take it off, it's about the only thing that will. Thing is if you do that, make sure the gas fully dries and then wipe the mower down with a damp cloth, and then wash the mower with water thoroughly to make sure you've gotten all the gas off the mower. Then I'd give it a few hours of rest time before starting it again. I don't think there's any non-flammable material that will take oil off metal or any surface really, just be careful if you do that to make sure all the gasoline vapors are totally gone or you'll start your mower on fire when you try starting it.

Probably will be fine . It may smoke a little and get really dirty when you use it but other than that no biggie.

To clean it you need to first take the gas cap off, put a little plastic like celophane over the hole and threads then screw the cap back over this to keep water out. (Take this back off before running it for any significant length of time)

Then spray it with some degrease like "Greased Lightning" (DO NOT USE GASOLINE!!!)or similar and let it stand a bit. Then spray it off with a hose making sure not to spray too much directly on the air cleaner, exhaust or in the spark plug area. Then immediately start it up to let it dry off.
I actually like to have them running when I clean them but you have to be really careful not to get water in the air cleaner or the exhaust.

There are products you can buy to remove it, then easily remove the product.
You could let it sit and smoke out, but then the places that it doesn't do that, you'll be stuck with a thick brownish gunk that will be a pain to take off

It won't hurt the mover unless it's in the exhaust or starter

yeah, no problem. Wipe it off as best you can and consider washing down the deck and engine with some detergent and water....carefully. On the bright side, it will capture and hold any garden insect you encounter. You may have a new garden insect control!
