What I know I don't want are ferns (i live in the NW, we have plenty) or an invasive vine or any kind of ground cover that spreads out of control...or for that matter, bamboo. Ideally I'm looking for perennials that add color. multiple suggestions that I can place together would be great. Thanks

I don't know if I should use pavers, cement or if there is something else I could use that would be less work and cheaper. I have plenty of yard, but it is all grass. Any suggesions would help.

I have not water or feed my trees and roses for awhile and I was wondering if it is too late in the year to water them and will it kill the plants if the soil is wet then freezes?

I will be planting my bulbs today or tomorrow- I live in zone 5b. I have a squirrel "issue" they dig up just about everything-they even destroyed the fabric under the mulchtrying to dig up my plants. They even eat some plants-my bleeding heart, and some other perrenials whose names I don't know. Is chicken wire over the bulbs helpful and will they eat the bulbs after flowering? Is there anything squirrels WON'T eat?

Pressing olives to make oil produces waste pulp and shredded stones. can they be used for garden compost or mulch? Are there any other uses not needing clever technology?

I am an empty-nester, living in a city apartment in zone 5. I really miss my mixed borders and have started container gardening out on my terrace. Annuals just don't do it for me, and I have had success with containers of daylilies, hosta, astilbe, lilac and PJM Rhododendrons. Can anyone recommend some good books or web sites on growing perennials in containers? Thank you!
