all of the premade ponds are pretty small but if that's what you want, then use those
the liner can be used to make a much larger pond, better shape,
and deeper, some liners are guaranteed for 20 yrs
stop and determine how deep you pond needs to be to prevent freezing in the winter or do you plan to bring your fish inside for the winter? be careful with the roofing material, some of it is poisonous to fish

either way - but buy your liner at a roofing company. I get mine at the local roofers for a fraction of the cost at the pond store. A liner gives you more flexability, but a premade pond can be just as pretty when done right. And- either way - it is a lot lot more work and lot lot more expensive than ponds are preported to be. Do not be suckered by it is low cost or cares for itself. Ponds with fish take a lot lot lot of care and feeding and treatment for water - fish food - pump to circulate water to airate for fish to breath and electricity to run it all - and depth requirements for freezing in your area - all cost cost cost. Be ready for what you bargin for and it will be wonderful. But give up something to afford the water treatment and fish food and start saving now.

If you want it to last more than just a few years, get a polyurea elastomer spray-on liner:

My brother's koi pond began leaking last winter due to small cracks in the original liner. They replaced it with this stuff, which U.S. embassies are using to bomb-proof their buildings in dangerous areas. Seriously.
