We have large old evergreens about 4 feet high. If we cut them back to the wood and leave a foot worth of branches, will it regenerate? Any tips? How long before it looks like a shrub again?

I don't have much of a green thumb nor the time for upkeep with plants. I'd like to have a few around the house for decor and because I simply like plants.
What are the best houseplants you can maintain? Something that requires sunlight or minimal sunlight and can be watered weekly? Something preferably green leafed that is not poisonous to animals would be my idea plant. Also, I'd like to have a plant I can root from it's leaves (where you take a leaf and stem and place into water so you can root it).

I have a small palm tree that I have kept indoors for over a year. It is a trooper. It stayed alive with no added water while I was evacuated from my house for 3 months. Just this month I noticed patches of white on the soil. I repotted it in a new and bigger pot and replaced all the soil. I used Miracle Gro potting mix. After just a few days the white path started forming again. Is is harmful. How do I get rid of it? What is it?

I have several flowers and shrubs (marigolds, hydrageas, azaleas, roses, black eyed susans ect.) and none of them have signs of bugs; but yet my dahlias, begonias, and my camassias are very much infested. Does anyone have a clue as to what bugs eat only bulbs, and what I can use to kill them without killing my bulbs or the other flowers that won't cost me much?

Hi everyone,

We just had a new sod lawn installed at my house in Southeastern Massachusetts about 2 months ago, and we are having an invasion of some sort of crab grass, which is lighter in color and thicker than the standard grass. We don't know what to do, and it seems to keep spreading all over the place. One part of our lawn doesn't have this problem at all. However, both parts of the lawn have an equal amount of heavy sunlight during the day.

Can someone shed light on what exactly this is, and how it should be treated to be eliminated?

Thank you so much in advance!

Dave

It is the first year we've had them. We have a lot of lilies, they are being destroyed by these beetles. I do not wish to put any chemicals down because I have a lot of hummingbirds and beneficial bees and such in my yard. Can anyone help me rid my lilies of these evil little bugs? Is there a natural solution??
