My first response to yellow spots in your grass is: do you have a dog or dogs? Often their urine can kill grass. If it is not the animals, then, it is very likely that it was put in at a bad time of year. New lawns should be done in the spring or fall, not in the summer, especially in your hot climate. 4 times a day watering may not be helping the situation. You should only water during the early morning or late evening hours, so at the most, 2 times per day. Watering during the heat of the day can harm grass, as the water is quickly evaporated causing damage to the grass blades. Try cutting down on the watering, as that is all you can do at this point. Good luck!

let me answer your question and correct a response by sharon. if you getting brown spots in july generally its fungus or insects. both should be treated asap. NEVER water at night, it promotes lawn disease. early am best. water less frequently but more at once is better. every other day is fine with 1 inch of water applied at a time.
