I have a black & decker power drill/screwdriver, and the little red button (you know, the one that lets you pick which direction it turns) is stuck in one position. Great for unscrewing or drilling. Useless for screwing.

Is there some "man secret" to fixing this, besides using a hammer? Or is this just a loss??

I need to build a couple of light boxes, for my photo hobby.

Basically, they would be for a model to stand, sit, and pose on.

I need to know some thickness's, of glass and or plexi-glass, that would work for that. Lets assume, 200 pounds tops (for safety), wearing heels.

The frame would be built with a 1" lip, lined with felt, for the glass to rest on.

The sizes I am thinking of are: 18"x18", and 24"x36".

And, until I can actually contact a local glass company, maybe approximate cost of said glass/plexi. Just as a guesstimate.

I just bought a new house this year. It’s drafty and heating is inefficient. I will have to work on that in the New Year. But in the meantime what is the best strategy for turning down the temperature when I am not home? I have 3 scenarios. I am not home all day, I frequently am gone for a night or two, and I will be gone for 2 weeks. Does it make a difference on what you would turn the heat down to?

For the 2 week period, I am worried as I live in a milder climate (cool) with temperatures hitting freezing especially at night, and about a 10% chance of a drastic cold snap! How warm would I want the house to stay if there is a chance it is really cold outside?

Hi, I have a newer townhouse (6 years old). The fuse box has a main switch at the bottom that says 125. Above that, half the slots have those switch type fuses and the rest are empty. Both of the two outlets in the garage are on one fuse. I would like these outlets to be on seperate fuses. Do I need permits and electricians to install the extra fuse? Thanks a bunch.

Ok so I have a small piece of marble floor in my house. It is right when you open the door, in the little foyer if thats what you want to call it. It is only about 1 sq yard in size. It is very old, Im not sure how old. I live in an old rowhome in Philadelphia & the city lost the records as to when my house was built, but the graveyard across from me is from the 1700's. So as far as I know this marble can be a few hundred years old, LOL. Anyway it is very dirty & scratched up. I really dont want to get rid of it. Is there anyway I can get it really clean & shiny again?? Thank you. 10 pts best answer

Hi,

I am going to attempt to fit a new front door and would like to know if there is anything else i need to be careful of.

I have successfully fitted many internal doors but wasn't sure if there are any fundamental differences between the two?
For instance draft proofing etc will play a part somewhere along the way- would that mean i need to leave more gap around the edges etc?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also if any discription is made on how to do something could you go into as much detail as possible!

Many thanks.

Please- no suggestions about where to buy one (I am making this about 6' square, it simply has to be custom). Please, no suggestions about knitting a felted square, or making a fabric-covered ribbon board (this is not for a 6 year old girl's bedroom). Please, no suggestions about a decorative wine cork thingy- this is not for kitchen decor. I specifically want to use cork, so please no suggestions about using fuzzboard or steel and magnets, or whatever. I would appreciate some serious answers here from crafty/woodworking people! We do have a decent amount of tools in our home, although nothing large and permanent like a table saw or jigsaw! Thank you!

My washer valve is leaking. It is leaking at the knob that you use to turn the hot water on and off. Where can I find this part to replace it and how do I replace it?

I heard that there was a way to hang a curtain, or there was some type of curtain that you could buy where you use little metal hanging clips and attach them to a pole for them to slide onto (or something like that). But there is no rod being used. Does anyone know what I am talking about or what the name of this type of curtain mechanism is?

I have a garage door opener that does not work when it gets cold. It worked fine all summer.
I greased everything with white lithium grease. That didnt do the trick.
When the door got stuck last, I disconnected the door and just ran the opener and the chain moved freely (opened and closed several times without issue). It seems the problem is not in the opener.
The door opens freely if I do it by hand.
What sounds like the problem here...
Does this sound like a case where I need to change the down or up force? Should I change both? Do I need to increase the force?
