how do I position outdoor speakers in a patio?

No offense but a few details would help us.

Is the patio covered? Enclosed? How many speakers?

Without knowing; it would seem logical to me to face them toward the area where people might spend the most time; OR if not a situation where the sound is to be broadcast YARD WIDE; then parhaps toward a wall where the sound can "bounce"

It would help us to know.
