I prefer to use wall lights only at my business to save electricity bill. There are couple switches that control different sections of wall lights. And, each section of wall lights also connects to a couple ceiling lights (fluorescent lights).

If i take out these fluorescent lights, is there any thing potentially bad when i turn on those switches? Will it be bad for the ballasts of those fluorescent lights ?

There is a lot of "blistering" where paste was not laid and creasing. Thank goodness it is a woodland scene that hides much of the faults but I'm so much of a perfectionist. Is there any way to correct the errs - without ripping the panels off and ordering new one... that would be so spendy.

Our house currently has a really gross shower enclosure that is peeling off the wall, as well as an old junky tub that wasn't even designed to be used with a shower. We are in the process of redoing the entire bathroom and will mostly likely have to rip out the old plaster and lathe walls and put up new drywall.
My question is what type of drywall should we use for the bathroom in general and behind the tub/shower area specifically. Also, do we have to line/treat/prep that drywall behind the tub area at all before putting the new tub in? Everything behind the tub area will definitely have to be redone from scratch anyway as it is very leaky and damp right now and probably has mold and other gross stuff behind the shower insert.

I am looking to see if there is a way to build a dog door that I place in the wall without using a pre-manufactured kit. ANyone have directions on how to create a sealed pet door for 4 labs to use. Looking to save a few bucks instead of buying a Petsafe door that has a U seal that breaks all too often. I am looking to create a double door so that it creates an insulation of air between the doors. Any Idea's? plans?

we just purchased a house a little over a month ago. My husband was leaning on the kitchen wall yesterday and found that it actually flexed in. Someone at sometime had done some shoddy repairs and slapped a new piece of drywall up without attaching it to the studs in the middle. So if you push on the wall, it actually flexes in and out. Its just suuuuper. I am trying to contact our realtor and figure out a way to have this fixed. But I have a sinking feeling this is something we are going to have to end up eating the cost for. How would we go about fixing this? My husband is pretty handy, so I am sure he could figure it out with a lil help. Any opinions and or suggestions would be great.

We own a newly built house - and as many people will know storage is LIMITED! Hence we want to lay some flooring in the loft to ease our problem. BUT not sure how to go about this.
I assume I need to measure the joists - to see if they will take weight (do i need to measure their distance apart too???)

Due to the odd loaction of my mainswater stopcock which is basicaly in a door entrace way, I would like to change the stopcock for somthing less protruding like an isolating valve. This would then alow the piping and valve to be boxed in leaving a small hole for a screw driver.

I am also wanting to fit as an extra a surestop water isolating valve.

I need to replace a damaged piece of kitchen worktop. It was bought at B&Q but they no longer carry this pattern. Where can I look to try and find a piece? Is there a service out there for this kind of thing? (It has to match other pieces... and no I don't want to replace the whole kitchen if I can help it!)

My partner while in the loft managed to put her foot through ceiling. How do I repair it? Do I need to cut the section square and cut a piece of drywall to the same size? How do I attach it to the remainder of the piece? Really need some help on this.

Basically I'm in the process of building a desk and I need to get those plastic decorative hole things that allow computer cabling to pass through the desk, neatly. The problem is I don't know what they are really called to ask for them, or even know what store to start looking for them at. I asked people at Home Depot and Lowe's and like kinda looked at me like I'm crazy.

We have a gym. It has concrete walls and tiled floors. When it is humid or raining outside the floor becomes slick. We've bought a small dehumidifier and it helps, but not enough. We don't know whether to turn the heat up or down, if fans would help, or if putting padding on the walls. Any ideas?
