if you are casting blocks and paving slabs ..then you do not use sand and cement ..try granite chippings and cement or small ballast and cement ..add the cement 4 and one cement ..but very important ..add the cement by weight .not volume ..a shovel of ballast weigh a lot more than a shovel of cement ..so you could end up with too weak a mix

Hey there, no cement used in block paving.

5 + 1 will be fine for moulds.

Sorry, are you on about slabbing? If so semi dry mix of 5 + 1 wet mix, flush point to finish.

4 shovels of 10mm stones, 2 shovels of sand, 1 shovel of cement. add water to get your required thickness.
4:2:1 is a good concrete mix for all jobs
