How much room do I have to leave between new pergo and existing tile and carpet. I can't get to Lowes tonight and get them, but I want to keep putting boards down.
I need to know how wide that plastic channel is that screws to the floor.
Thanks

I just had a new tile backsplash installed in my kitchen. Unfortunately, the tile grout is WAY lighter than it was on the sample card. The tile stands out and it is way too light. Is there a way to darken the grout? The guy who installed the tile put a sealer on the grout immediately after he finished the job today. The grout looks WHITE and it is supposed to be BEIGE. Please help!!!

I mistakenly was told to wire all neutral(white) together, and all hot(black) together. What the store rep didn't tell me was that it doesn't work when I have more than 1 switch-controled recepticals in that junction box. Now, all recepticales are hot, and the switches turn everything off. How can I rewire the box to allow multiple switch-controled recepticals, while maintaining multiple contstant hot recepticals?

I want to build a deck on the back of the house. It will be about 30" from the ground. I've thought about wooden piers and cinder block piers.
In addition I have ideas about something beneath the deck to prevent weeds from growing there.

I am building a workbench. actually 2. But I was wondering what I should make my depth. I have my height and my length figured out one is around 45inches and the other around 32. And both with a height of 37. I want to put casters on them to make them movable and I don't want them to be too top heavy. Most standard benches are around 24 but that seems a little to small. I plan to use it to weld metal on as well as some woodworking. I want it as functional as it is rigid. Any suggestions or engineers that can answer my third grade question would have my thanks as well as my ear. I will edit if you need more info. Thanks for all your answers in advance!

My bedroom is on the second story of my town house. The carpeting was ripped out and now there is only ply wood flooring. Can I stain it to make it look richer or paint it to not make it look so "woody"?

My niece flushed a small hard plastic toy down toilet and now it won't drain water. I have used everything shy of taking out toilet. I have read you can use muriatic acid on a toilet. Will muriatic dissolve this small toy. It is about 3 inches long and 1 inch wide. I can hear water draining down part of S curve so I know it is stuck in the first curve. HELP

We just moved into a new home but we need to make an additional bedroom for my son. There is an oversized 2 car garage attached to the house and thats where we decided to put my sons new room. It is freezing in there, it is unfinished (studs) with no insulation. We already put in a sub-floor with a vapor barrier and sheet insulation. Our problem is with the walls, they are 2x4.
My question:
Is there any type of insulation we can use that will give us a higher R value than 15 or will we have to add 2x2's to the exsisting studs so we can put at least R19 (we live in NE PA).
Thanks for your help!

After weeks of searching for a solid white dresser for my young daughter and only finding cheap particle board, we ordered an unfinished pine dresser. Now, I am nervous. My daughters bed and bookcase is white, so we wanted to keep this dresser white as well.

My question is should we stain it a white wash? (I know that pine can be a little tricky to stain and would need to use a wood conditioner first) or should we go ahead and paint it a bright white, like the rest of her furniture?

Anyone have experience with this? I really appreciate your help.
