I have a 1968 Fleetwood Mobile Home that I live in next to a Expressway in California, believe it or not it gets chilly and noisy. The inside is wood panel and the outside the typical metal paneling.
We don't want a big mess we have new wall to wal carpeting and new interior and exterior paint. I want to insulate it quick, easy and no mess.

We just started redoing our floors that were covered with lanolimen, that was 100 years old. It left a dark backing film on the hardwood we would like to save. This is coming off really slow with a belt sander (about 3' square an hour). Is there any product out there that will help take this off? I tried zip strip and it doesn't touch it. DEAN

I'm putting Ikea wood laminate in this week, and wonder if I need to go to the trouble of installing the flooring under these appliances. Maybe just a little ways under each? Or should I go all the way to the wall?

I have a basic run of the mill craftsman table saw. When I use it I get very irate because the fence setup seems to be junk. It seems that I have to measure the fence on both sides to make a straight cut instead of being able to rely upon the supplied ruler on the machine. Sometimes the fence is straight and sometimes it is not. When trying to perform a straight cut this is disconcerting. Has anyone heard of a better fence system to add to the saw, or is there another reasonable priced table saw out there that has a "decent" fence setup that will work flawlessley?

We are going to drywall the ceiling in our basement and I am wondering if I should put insulation between the floor joists or not. Is it worth the extra effort?

I am installing 2 1/2" wide red oak floor over a old maple tongue and groove floor some part are very irrigular. Do I need to use 1/8 underlayment (plywood type) or can I use the roll type of underlayment? Also do I need to screw down all the old floor first? I am putting hardwood flooring in the bathroom too, what is the recommended underlayment for that?

I have a baxi bermuda running the system (very old system), the trouble is the house (3 bed semi) has been extended downwstairs making a very large living room and a utility room and had a porch added that opens direct to the hallway from outside. Upstairs is fine but downstairs only has two radiators and seems to take ages to warm up (open plan) the thermostat is in the hallway which is the last to warm up so the rads upstairs are still putting out a lot of heat when it the correct temp upstairs, until the downstairs warms up.
Should I
A- add radiators in living room and utility room.(will system cope)
B- use controls on upstairs rads to turn them down or will heat just rise from downstairs.
C- complete new system £££s

I've got a house with an attic conversion that was done before I moved in. So far I've been using it as storage, but after living here a year I know that the attic room is an icebox in winter and a sauna in the summer, regardless of the temperature of the rest of the house.

I take this to mean that the attic is not insulated properly? The conversion looks like an amateur job and it doesn't look like it was finished before the house was up for sale.

What do I need to buy and do to insulate the attic properly?
What kind of insulation do I need?

What it looks like I've got is the actual sloped roof itself, with plasterboard panels nailed to the beams, creating a cavity. In the cavity is what looks like plain old polystyrene. Yes, that's right, polystyrene. I'm not aware that polystyrene is a good insulator. What do I buy to replace it with? And is it that simple to put the right kind of material in the cavity, or is there more to it than that?
