weird question, i know. what kinda of clay are they made from and are they fired or are they just hardened by drying??? i kinda want to make my own. thanx a bunch if anyone helps!

It has been fired. You can tell because 1. there's glaze on the head 2. it doesn't disolve in water. THe water soaks in because there's no glaze keeping the water out. Unless you have a kiln, I don't see how you can make your own.

They seem to be terra cotta, but my wife has one and the clay seems to allow the water to soak through, the outside stays damp for the plants to grow right on the textured clay. Thats all I know about it..

It's just a terra cotta pot made from a mold with holes in the top and sides. All you are doing is "pasting" grass seed mixed with water, on the outside of it to make the "hair/fur" grow.

They are made by Chia Fairies on the island of Chia-Land. Making your own is a clear violation of their copyright laws and also a violation of the Chia-Makers Local 2485 union.
So dont even try it.
