Our kitchen is partially hardwood(old yellowy color) and ceramics where the appliances, sinks and cupboards are. We want to redo the floor all in one type of ceramic, but are hoping to avoid the removal of both if possible. Any thoughts? Thanks

I just put up crown molding in and a couple of the corners have gaps larger than 1/2". In this older home the wall are not exactly 90 degrees. I need a simple way to fill these gaps without removing what I installed. Please help.

I live in a small end unit townhome. I want to put a small deck on the 1st floor. I'm great with my hands and tackeled several home improvment projects including installing a front entry door. However, The deck that I'm doing would be small roughly 15ft by 17Ft notthing too big. Is it worth it building it yourself....

My condo has only one plug on the wall to the kitchen counter. I know how to add a plug, but the wall is concrete/block with one layer of drywall attached to it. I'll also be adding tile as a backsplash. Do I make a groove in the drywall and run metal sheathed wire (covering later with tile). And what about the box, do I just chip out just enough for a special shallow box? Don't want to incur any problems later....any advice from actual electricians as to how they do it...

I have a ventless fireplace(also called a ventless gas log heater) in my livingroom. The way it is set up, there is a clamp that props open the flue about 1/2 inch. The first time we ran it we immediately got a strong gas odor that filled the whole house. The gas man came out when I reported the smell and he said the odor is normal a by-product of gas burning and I should run the fireplace with the flue closed. But the odor gives us a headache so we run it with the flue completely open ..odor is gone but we get no heat out of it at all. What is he talking about when he says the gas odor is normal..this just doesnt seem right even though he had the co2 wand out and did not detect anything... and running it with the flue closed that really doesnt seem right!!!

help

The old tiles are coming of nicely, but all the mortar stays on the wall. Should I try to get it all off (how?) or maybe leave in on and put the new mortar and tiles on top ?

My washing machine drain pipe is like the one under my sink. Its not just a straight pipe, it has that trap thing on it, and for some reason, it keeps getting clogged. I rented a drain snake last spring and managed to pull w glob of thread/twine up out of the drain.
Once again my washing machine drain pipe is clogged and running water all over the floor. Its like a swimming pool in my utility room. My dad rigged everything in this house and the washing machine drain goes into a concrete floor, but has one of those trap looking things on it. Is that supposed to be there? Dad did the best he could, but some of the things he rigged have cost me a fortune to fix right. Any suggestions on how to get this pipe to stop clogging. I already stuck a drain snake into the pipe but it is getting hung up in the trap or whatever you call that squiggly pipe and I cannot get it unclogged.I think I may have to hire a plumber today or hang the hose out the window to drain the washer. Help!
