So when my hub was not home, I went out and got this tile, its like peel and stick linolium stuff. I primed the old countertops (25 years old.) Then I peeled and stuck this stuff. It looks great. I purchased the squares that have the beveled edges, and then I filled with caulk. The problem now is, is where the edges are, the tile started to fall. What can I do to get the pieces that are standing straight up to adhere to the exsisting counter?? Help... Hurry.. I need some ideas before tommorrow.

The U.S. is now in the second largest drought in it's history as a nation. Australia is in the worst drought in its history,
Country after country are suffering from record drought conditions.
Cattle are dying by the thousands across the U.S. From heat, and
farmers do not have enough food and water to keep them alive.

South America and the Southeastern US are also under
extreme drought conditions.

So. Are you prepared to feed your family?

I painted my kitchen with a semi gloss paint and I don't like the shine in it,I was wondering if there's something you can put on it without having to repaint with a flat paint.

I'm tall and I need the desk to be about 5 inches higher. The desk does not have 4 individual legs. It has flat sides and a back that extends to the ground (so I don't think bed raisers would work too good).

I would like to remove wall-to-wall carpeting in a room to reveal hard wood underneath. I would like to preserve as much of the carpet as I can without cutting it into strips. Any suggestions?

I have a couple of dressers that date back probably to the 1930s or 1940s. There is a stamp on them that says, "MADE IN VERMONT" and under that, "BEECHER FALLS" all within what looks to be a maple leaf. Any information on what type of wood this would be, and how to care for it, would be greatly appreciated.

I saw a child-sized castle in NW Arkansas made of stone perhaps from a home-improvement store to outline a garden project. I really would like a photo to go by or perehaps a book on how to build it.

I am a 21 year old girl... so if you answer this... please understand that I have no tools except a hammer and some nails. And I have no experience with this... so I may not understand the carpenter "lingo" lol. I have a small bar area where I want to hang some stuff... the stuff isnt too heavy. The space is only about 1 foot wide... I dont even know if there would be any studs in it. Would it be ok to hang my stuff without finding the studs... since it isnt that heavy?

But if I do need to find the studs... then I need my original question answered... how do i find studs in the walls???

thanks for your help!

My new home has a kitchen with glazed ceramic tiles covering most of the walls.

The colour is basically honey brown, but there's a hideous purple border (in the same tile size & shape) running horizontally & vertically all over the place - I'd say that 20% of the tiles are this colour.

I want to reduce all the tiles to one (new) colour.

Two guys (both pros) have this to say:

GUY 1: Cheapest solution (and least noisy/disruptive) is to use a 'glass enamel paint' over the tiles. I went online and found several manufacturers of this stuff.

GUY 2: Scoffed at this and said there was no other way than retiling the whole kitchen.

Guy 1 is adamant that it can be done, and the job will last if enough care is taken in preparing the surface.

Is he right?

Has anyone tried this 're-enamelling' technique, and were the results OK?

Thanks!

What is the best way to soundproof a sliding door?

I live in an old house with a 84" x 64" sliding door between me and my roommate's bedroom, and the sound carries almost as though there is nothing in between us.

I would prefer to do as little permanant damage to the walls as possible. Most of what I find searching for this seems like overkill. I'm not trying to build a recording studio in my room, I just want the sound to blocked at around the same level of any other wall in the house.

Will heavy curtains do this? Is sealing the cracks in the door more important? Some kind of cheap foam behind a curtain?

I was engaged to be married - but split with him about 7 months ago. Now I am trying to build my home by myself. Are there any guys out there that could give me ideas as to where do I start? My acreage is in B.C. I want to try to hire the sub-contractors myself, as I can't afford to hire someone to build it completely. I need step-by-step info. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
