Any liquid polyeurethane glue, such as Gorilla Glue. There are generic brands of liquid polyeurethane that are much less expensive.

Follow directions. Coat the entire surface with a thin film.

Clamp.

Leave the excess alone. Wait until it dries completely. You will see a yellow "foam" along the joint line. When it is dry, you can easily scrape that off the wood. If you try to wipe it down while it is wet, it will get into the surface of the wood, then you have to sand that out.

wear gloves. This stuff gets on your fingers, turns black and takes days to wear off! If you do get it on, immediately use paint thinner (mineral spirits) to wipe it off.

Elmer's carpenter glue with clamps.
If you're going to refinish the wood then DON'T wipe off the glue that squeezes out. Wait until it is dry and use a scraper to remove the bead of glue that squeezed out. It'll do the job much better.

Try Gorilla Glue, it's super strong and it's water proof.

I've been building tables for years using Titebond. The newer waterproof version is excellent.

None of my tables have ever come apart!
