I'm tall and I need the desk to be about 5 inches higher. The desk does not have 4 individual legs. It has flat sides and a back that extends to the ground (so I don't think bed raisers would work too good).

If you want something that looks nice, and is fairly easy to build, make full depth extensions to the two side panels. To do this, you will need a center section that is the thickness of the side panel. Cut it to length, matching the depth of the panel. A 1x6 board is about 5-1/4" wide. If that works, fine, otherwise rip the board to the exact height you prefer. Next, you will need two outer panels for each end of the desk. They should be the same length, but 6" taller. What you are building is a wood sandwich, with the center panel setting the height. The taller outer panels will provide stability and attacment points. Screw and glue together. Then glue and screw onto the bottom of each end panel. Stain to match the desk.

Raise Desk Height

I work as a carpenter in an office building and we have request such as yours. If you have a center draw try removing the draw. If that doesn't work and it's because the monitor is to low try building a box for the monitor. If you still need to raise the desk I would use nice wood such as oak if its a nice desk if not pine or poplar will do. just make sure you attach this base to the desk with some sort of bracket so that the desk does not fall off.

Good luck

build a simple platform using 2x4's, following the bottom of the desk (the supports). It's not rocket science. Simply measure and have the lumber cut at the HomeDepot/Lumber yard, if you don't have a saw available. Glue or screw the boards to the bottom of the desk, staining or painting them to compliment the desk.

Another alternative is to mount the desk on some under the bed storage drawers (try IKEA for some storage solutions which could meet your needs)

Good Luck.

to keep the desk stable i would create X's at the ends and corners and at the center of the back (kind of like the plywood deer you see on peoples lawns at christmas time). so if you need 5" of height i'd cut a 10" X10" peice of wood and create a 5" x3/4" (assuming that's the desk material depth) notch and repeat this for each piece you need.... and get a friend to help you lift the desk into these pieces. if i have confused you i can email you a drawing.

Get bricks you make houses with like acme or something like that and put 1 under each leg of your desk. Or to be more decorative, you can get some things that are called foundation lifters, they look like city cones only they come in blue with a flat top to sit your feet down into to raise your table or desk.

There are leg extentions for beds that would work. 2X4 (width of desk/sides) under 2 legs & done for each side. Cut X on 4 tennis balls & put on each leg. 4 decorative small flower pots/add filler in pot for reqd height. Replace legs with longer ones. Some ideas to help you get creative on what to use.

a 2x4 laid under both sides, about 24 in long . buy a 4 ft and have it cut in half. that will raise it 1 3/4 in. or double it up for 3 1/2 in.
