my gas pipe is leaking & m not sure if teflon tape is advisable..

Rectorseal is what is recommended. You have methane gas?

If you are referring to the teflon plumbers tape, that is commonly used to help seal water pipes... it's the wrong product for the job. There is a very similar product, yellow in color, that is made for gas lines.

Shut the gas off, until you can fix the leak.

I dont know why you would have methane gas lines in your house unless they are piped straight out of you house,but if you mean natural gas buy some pipe dope without teflon from your local plumbing supply house. rector seal soft set would work the best. to be safe call a registered master plumber gas is very dangerous if you dont know what you are doing

no I do not think so.Just buy a new gas hose or buy a new car because catches fire.
