Can anyone with experience tell me how to put the metal vent in without gravity making it fall out? Here is a sample of the ceiling air duct without the vent.

I have a building with three apartments. There are phone wires all over the place coming in and out of walls and stapled to the baseboards. Not all wires lead to phone jacks. Is there a tool that I can use to find out if i) the phone line is still in use and ii) to what phone number the line is connected?

I have a long wall in my backyard that I want to add the look of stone to. I've recently seen some articles about manufactured stone veneers, but I don't have any experience with them. Have you used them? Are they easy to install? I have a 1 ft tall area at the top of the wall that runs about 100ft across the top of the wall that I'd like to cover with stacked stone. Would veneer work well there? How much do you think it would cost?

When I install my speakers to the back forty. Can I run the weather proof wire along the telephone wire to save from having to dig and lay conduit for the first 60-80 feet? Or will I get or give interference due to inductance? The external Amp will be ~300 watts and I am installing 4 speakers.

My shower wiring has been enclosed behind the plasterboard walls and tiles but when viewing a house I noticed that the electric wiring had been run down the wall on top of the tiles in mini - trunking. Is this permitted under the IEE regulations?

I would like to move my washer from the main floor of my home down into the basement... the washer currently just drains out a hose into the yard. Due to the age of the septic system I do Not want to hook into that (has to be emptied on regular basis just from showers alone). So I am looking for an idea on how to reuse the water,,, maybe a sprinkler system to water the lawn??? I use detergents that are safe for the enviroment since I live next to a stream and wouldn't want to harm the fish,so I don't have to worry about harming the lawn either. I have heard of systems that reuse the washer rinse water to wash the next load but looking for another way to save and reuse water.

I have 2 (tall and narrow yet very heavy) bookcases just moved to an area with extra thick carpet padding. They easily tilt back and forth with ease. I need to anchor them to the wall but how? I take it that I will need to screw conecting hardware in to the wall and bookshelves, but I do not know how to and with what hardware. Please help I do not want my kids and/or pets to get crushed accidentally!
