Can anyone with experience tell me how to put the metal vent in without gravity making it fall out? Here is a sample of the ceiling air duct without the vent.

Register boots made for ceilings or walls have holes pre-drilled to hold the cover. If those holes aren't there it's supposed to be for floor ducts instead. Turn the house over or drill holes in it.

You have to buy the type of vent that snaps into place with springs that will hold it in place.
