I would like to move my washer from the main floor of my home down into the basement... the washer currently just drains out a hose into the yard. Due to the age of the septic system I do Not want to hook into that (has to be emptied on regular basis just from showers alone). So I am looking for an idea on how to reuse the water,,, maybe a sprinkler system to water the lawn??? I use detergents that are safe for the enviroment since I live next to a stream and wouldn't want to harm the fish,so I don't have to worry about harming the lawn either. I have heard of systems that reuse the washer rinse water to wash the next load but looking for another way to save and reuse water.

If you own your home, this would be a perfect time to do a design and install a bog garden in your yard. There are many nice flowering plants the love this type environment!
Remember that you will need to install a lift pump to pump the washed water UP from your basement to ground level! Cost for this project may be more than it is worth to move your washer into your basement!

one thing to think about is everytime you do laundry and it drains out the yard is going to be wet, and if you have kids or pets or both, dirt and mud are going to be tracked into the house. but that is a good idea, you might find an old garden hose and run it around the outside of the house with one end hooked into the drain system, then go along every so far and poke a small hole in the hose on the bottm side of the hose so it will allow the water to escape. obviously the pressure wont be that great so it porbably wont push water out of the end of a 100' hose but it will get some of the yard watered. its not super technical but its and idea good luck with it

Definitely use the sprinkler system.. in this day of so much drought, and with your septic tank problems, I would think that would be a very good solution.. By the way, septic systems should not need to be drained on a 'regular basis due to showers'.. How many people in your family and how many showers a day do they take?

Main issue is lifting/pumping the water from basement to a place it can be re-used. possibly use wind or solar power.
can be de-foamed for flushing wc, car wash, wildlife friendly reedbed filtration

why put it in the basement? harder to use - requires carrying wet washing up stairs for drying, could be danger of trips & slips.
Upstairs the waste water is easier to re-use.
Better putting less used equipment in basement, eg back-up freezer, heating/air-con, kids tv ...

sounds like your septic system needs fixing, should not need frequent emptying

watcha yah do is: get a whole bunch of hoses(hook them up to the washer of course), poke holes in them and dig trenches for them. Then put them in the trenches not so it will spray above ground but close enough to the surface that it will get the roots of the grass(and you could run one some where else in the yard where you don't like taking the hose to).

Install an underground drain field in your yard. That will water the lawn from underneath while giving you a place to dispose of the water.

I guess you could run the rinse water into your bath tub and take a bath LOL... honestly there isn't to much more you can do with used dirty water...empty into buckets and use to flush your toilet...Phone a recycling company maybe you can make some money of your used dirty water?

Wash water isn;t much good except for landscaping as you mention. Let nature clean the water and recycle it to your well. Good for you that it is environmentally friendly.
