I have recently had a problem with fruit flies in my kitchen and dining room. I think I have eliminated the original source, a green pepper that didnt make it to the garbage can, but that was 6 days ago and the problem is getting worse. I have also gone through and cleaned the kitchen top to bottom. Any advice or ideas would be helpful.

I have been using a branded make of dishwasher cleaner, stick it in and let the dishwasher run, but ive broken the bit where I put the container, anyone know any good home remedies? Something I can chuck in and run the dishwasher to clean it?

Im thinking lemon or bicarbonate maybe, but just wondered if anyone uses this or anything else. And how much to use.

I wont spare the details.

Out of anger at me, one of my cats peed on my keyboard bag. Of course, I need that bag to carry my keyboard to various practices and gigs. Also, since I was away on a trip, I did not discover that my cat had done this until maybe about a week later.

The smell seems to have dissapated, but I am not sure how to go about cleaning the bag without ruining it or making a horrible mix of smells. This is some very thick material, about blanket-thickness.

any suggestions on how to clean the bag and get the smell out would be GREATLY appreciated. Help?

Washing machines destroy my jeans afer a few washes. I've tried turning them inside out & putting them in a tied bag when I wash them. I also have tried different detergents, even "natural ones".

Nothing helps - They always look worn out, esp black jeans.

Any suggestions ?

I'm cleaning my computer room and I found some winterfresh gum stuck to my carpet. What's an easy, do-it-yourself way to get it out.........why am I up this late cleaning anyway?

I live in an older home and I have used everything from bleach to CLR.

I can't afford to have it replaced either.

I was climbing my bookshelf in the living room yesterday, but it toppled over on me; after the dust settled, I realized that the cut I got on my thumb from the butterknife reopened and bled all over the carpet in the process.

Also, any advice about how to fix a dent in the floor below a carpeted floor would be appreciated...

Thought of this when I saw another's question, with good answer. I have a pretty old second-hand apartment-sized dryer that takes forever to dry clothes, can't afford a new one right now, and don't have the use of a clothesline. I am careful, keeping the lint filter clean, drying in small loads with similar fabrics, drying sheets alone quickly, etc. etc. Should I price a new dryer to save $$ in the long run? Thanks, from "stretching every dollar"
