I can sympathize with you..Although I grew up in Texas, I have always thought that the water came from a bog or something lol..The best detergent is Tide hands down.. I also use oxy clean with the tide to make sure its clean.. Downy in Texas is a must . no questions on that.I have to disagree with one commenter about a water softener. Although they can help with laundry , It doesn't necessarily make your skin better. I have used both simple hard water and a softner and I prefer the hard water. Plus, they are exspensive. As for your skin, well thats gonna have to be trial and error on skin products..what works in Dallas , may not work in Austin..Yeah go figure right.I know this too from experience..figure out what is exactly happening to your face and go by that kind of product . Also, Did you ever consider that maybe the stress from moving could be causing the breakouts. ( is possible ya know)Stress is a major factor in skin conditions..
Some natural things you can try is tea tree oil . It absorbs and kills bacteria on the skin and beneath the skin layer.
dha/flax seed oil.. A natural moisturizer that can be taken in capsule form. Helps to restore moisture balance that can happen due to weather changes etc...a good health store will carry it.. Might not be a bad idea to take a multie vitamin for a bit just to get your system back to normal..Hope this helped and good luck to you... Texas ain't to bad . It might just take you awhile to adjust :)

I had the same problems when I moved from Texas to Arizona 22 years ago.
Not knowing what part of Texas you are in (it's a big state, in case you haven't noticed yet...just try driving across it, from Dallas to El Paso, if you don't believe me!), it's hard to say anything about the water quality.
East Texas generally has soft water. West Texas has hard water.
Here in AZ, we have very hard water. I have fairly good luck using a concentrated liquid ALL and double the recommended amount of fabric softener in the rinse cycle. I also run my dryer with about a half dozen old tennis balls in it - they help fluff up the clothes and help them dry faster. Bed Bath and Beyond sells a product called Gonzo that will remove just about any stain, even set in ones (after several uses).
As for your skin problems, try drinking and cooking with bottled water, and using disposable moist towelettes (like those made by Dove) for "washing" your face until you become better acclimatized, and don't "wash" too frequently.
Enjoy your stay in Texas - you'll find most of us Texans are very friendly and willing to help you adjust, even those of us who've relocated ourselves - just please, remember to capitalize the "T" in Texas next time!!

I have lived in Texas all of my life, and the water is different in every town. There is a small community four miles from where I live that has urine color water coming from it's faucets! Your best bet is to ask your neighbors about the water supply in your area.

i had that problem, felt like i could never get clean. Put a filter on your showerhead to remove the minerals. Try using Cetaphil on your face, it's very gentle. maybe wash your face with distilled water or filtered water like from a Brita pitcher instead of tap.

Hey man, I am not an expert on this but i suggest you ask your neighbors or people who your work with. They will be able to give you more guidance. And with the skin problems...i suggest you see a Dermatologist.
Good Luck!

you need a water softener. The water can often be very hard, as in having minerals in it that make stuff hard to clean.
