I live in an older home and I have used everything from bleach to CLR.

I can't afford to have it replaced either.

I have a commercial cleaning company and I have cleaned some stained up really bad tubs and I just use easy off oven cleaner. Spray the oven cleaner all over the tub and let it soak for a few hours, then use a brillo pad or sos pad on it while you rinse it off. This REALLY works. Your tub will look brand new. Good luck.

I love Dow Scrubbing Bubbles. If it`s a older tub I`m not real sure how the scrubbing bubbles will work.
You might try comet or something like that to get it real clean then use the scrubbing bubbles once a day or once a week to keep it clean.

Good Luck

try soft scrub lemon. my bathtub doesn't ever seem to come clean ever and this product worked the best. i've tried just about everything as well including the oxy clean "kaboom" and easy off for the bathroom. i give up because of the fumes.
