Don't spend your money on flea bombs. Go to a vet's office or a store like Farm & Fleet. It's a spray that you simply spray over the carpet and furniture. I don't like using the stuff either, but this does not require you to leave the house, although we did for several hours. The smell is very, very minimal and this will KILL THE FLEAS YOU HAVE NOW AND THE EGGS LAID OR IN THEIR BELLIES.
We have used it twice in the past, as minimally as possible and in my opinion, this is the only stuff to use. I wish I could remember the name of it but the vet will know as well as the store clerk. It's been too long, but it's in a can and it sprays (downwards-not like a spray paint).
This is the stuff to get.

You probably have carpet fleas. Yes, they will spread.
You can buy what they call Flea Bomb Spray at any local hardware store. One can per room. You will need to leave the house for a day. When you do this.
Notice: Be sure to read the direction on can and go by them. I use them a lot of times. Work as a maintenace person in dept's houses.

Well Honey: I would bet on the rodents. Unless you can put it down to bringing them home from a friends house. They won't live by themselves, even with your blood, they have to have animal blood (rodents work) without, they'll eventually die out.
Bomb the room, real well, let the window open and vacuum then spray Raid in the vacuum cleaner along with the floor and furniture.
I want to mention, I almost forgot, are they Fleas? are you sure they're not Silverfish, Snaptails or some other pest.

fleas prefer pets but will opt for a human host if hungry enough - sooooo I personally would use diatomaceous earth- it does not harm people or pets- but the bugs(even roaches) die !!! it may take a couple of days to kill em all - but it will continue to work on the eggs as well- it is a fossilized hard algae- you need to wear a mask to put it down(powder) it is not good for the lungs- put it into door jams to keep the little buggers in their room- if you can avoid that room do so- but like i said it does not harm a human to touch or eat(not that i am telling you to eat it) but not good to breath- just wait several days and vacuum up- it the problem is still there you may have to reapply -vacuum etc every couple of days---

You have to use a flea bomb. You might even have to do it several times. Fleas are difficult to get rid of because there eggs hatch later and you usually have to bomb again.. If you live in an apartment I would talk to the land lord and have him pay for an exterminator. Good luck

they are living in the fabric of something in that room. bombing them may help, but if any are tucked away undera cushion or something they will live through it. bombing cannot possibly get on everything. take all fabrics and have them steam cleaned then buy a flea spray for fabrics just to make sure. if you have carpet steam clean the carpet and dust it afterward. good luck.

Bomb with pre-emergent flea bomb. If you can't bomb, get Sevin or Diazanon lawn pesticide, sprinkle on carpet and leave room closed for 24 hours. Open windows and vacuum well. (Toxic. Do NOT use in child's room)

even though you don't have pets,,just go to a pet supply store and buy a "home fogger" kit for your house,,simple to use/do,, read the directions on the box,,and it will take care of the problem, had to do it when I dog sat for someone using my house, the brand I used was "HARTZ",,it does work
