I'm cleaning my computer room and I found some winterfresh gum stuck to my carpet. What's an easy, do-it-yourself way to get it out.........why am I up this late cleaning anyway?

Ice, you have to freeze it off.

I'm a pro carpet cleaner so this is easier for me than most but we use a chemical called Liquid-gel, or an aerosol freeze can, and an iron with a damp towel also works, be sure to rinse any cleaner out of the carpet.

Get as much off as you can with the freezing method. Then use the goo gone (available at hardware, WalMart, K mart, etc). Use it sparingly because it will leave an oily residue. To clean the residue left by the goo gone, use Dawn dish soap and rinse with a clean rag (preferably white) in clear water.

Freeze it with an ice cube and break off as much as you can. Then take a little peanut butter and rub it in with a paper towels until remainder of gum sticks to towel. Then wash out the peanut butter with regular dish soap and water. This takes patience.

Apply iceblocks to gum until it turns really hard. The mass should be easier to remove then. Any residue on pile can be trimmed off with fine scissors or at least use a cotton ball soaked with eucalyptus oil. press firmly with paper towel to remove excess.

if the ice does not work, try some oil, it'll help break down the gum

After applying ice to make it solid, use a dull knife to remove it, if your having trouble.
