Cleaning & Laundry - August 2006

I spilled an entire jar of melted vanilla candle wax on the carpet and it's been down there for over 24 hours. How and what can I use to get it up? There is an area that the jar laid upside down and all the wax ended up in that one spot and it's solid as a rock. Please help. Can't afford new carpeting right now.

Every time I do a load of wash, my wash will smell like it's been in there for weeks!! I use a good detergent and a liquid softener, but you can only smell the bitter mildewy smell.
I've tried baking soda and white vinegar, nothing works.... any suggestions??

Just put it on the area(s) ~ Rub it a little and put into the washer and amazingly the Oil, Grease and Chocolate will dissapear...also Lipstick...anything with an oil base can be cleaned in the above manner...

We bought this house a few months ago and the guy had smoked in it. He replaced all the carpet throughout the home and repainted several of the walls. We paid to have a guy come in and clean out our AC unit and we cleaned the air vents and just about every other thing you can think of. Now we can still smell the smoke when we are walking around in certain areas, and I have a strong feeling it's coming from the walls... maybe he didn't use a base coat like KILZ and now the odor is seeping through? I'm not sure. Any suggestions? I really don't want this smell to get into our carpet, and if we wait too long, I'm scared it's going to do that!

Any weird or special ways? this is what i do, my family has 5 people in it so everytime laundry needs to be down, one person takes al lthe laundry baskets down, dumps them out, and sorts through them by color. then we run the loads by color, one person runs the load, one person sorts, one person folds the clothes. how do you do your laundry?
