Get a bag of charcoal for grilling and place lots in the room and under the house and it should kill the smell. Lime under the house will also work.

Sniff it out. And if you can't find it, it's probably in your wall or under the floorboards. Once I even saw a rat about the size of a small cat who made a nest in the insulation around a hot water heater.

Remove thing's one piece at a time.
Start in one area, and work around until you have the whole room searched.
Check out every nook and cranny..rats/mice can crawl through anywhere.
Have a through search, and I'd def wear gloves..hah
It could take awhile, but just move thing's out of the room slowly until you've covered the whole room.
