I have an invasion of ants in my kitchen, I live in really old military housing. I am a very clean person, but I have to wait until thursday for the exterminator, anyone know anything that I can find around the house that kills these little suckers!

VINEGAR ON COUNTERS AND AROUND THE CUPBOARDS ON THE FLOOR AND UNDER THE SINK. ONE OR TWO APPLICATIONS SHOULD DO IT.

Quit screwing around and solve the problem once and for all. Spent 40 bucks and get a bag of Top Choice Fire Ant Control. This is a contact kill that works on the ants nervous system. It takes about 4 to 6 weeks to take full effect, but it last for an entire year. Best yet, it is host specific and won't kill all the beneficial insects you want. Our UNNAMED company charges a minimum price of $195 and we sell this like crazy. Just put it into your fertilizer spreader and apply at a rate of 3 Lbs per 1000 feet. Make sure and get it into the flower beds. Be patient and it does work great.

I take it some haven't had ants before.
Closing a door isn't going to do much help, those lil suckers crawl eveywhere.. up walls, into cracks outside the house, through windows..etc.
And it's bad cause they bite!
In the meantime, hot & soapy water should give a temp fix.. it won't last for long, but waiting until the exterminator comes, it won't be too much longer of a wait :)

It sounds weird but baby powder works. Sprinkle the powder along the baseboards, wait a little bit until they are gone. Also sprinkle some in cracks.
If you have ants outside, put down a line of comet or ajax...the ants won't cross the line

spray bleach water on them daily until an exterminator comes. Put a line of white chalk around the exterior base of your home. Make sure that your counters, etc. are dry... they are attracted to water as well as food.

The best that will repel them is Cinnamon. most hot spices work also. But I found that Cinnamon works best. Also get some borax which works really well also. Put it around where they are getting in. LIke the windows and doors.

Diluted lysol kills ants. And lately I've found that vinegar repels them- Which pleases me no end as until someone suggested that to me I had to do battle with them every summer!

borax and sugar mixed . . sprinkle on floor where you see them along baseboards, etc . .don't let the kids eat it . . . then there is always your can of Raid . . spray at night so it can dry without interferring with anything . . try this site too http://www.pestproducts.com/antcontrolproblems.htm
