My fiancee and I recently bought a house that was built in 1946. the wiring is still all 110 and the breakers are just 2 switches on the kitchen wall.
We need to get a new breaker box and run 220 so we have updated wiring. It'd be nice to use my electric dryer again..
Does anyone know how to do this, or do you know a link that could give us an overview on how this is done?

I'm trying to remove the knob (1 piece hot & cold) from my shower to replace. I don't see any screws left, other than the ones I got rid of to get too this point, removing the plate from the wall and plastic hot cold dial. Pictures are above and do I have to shut the water off and the hot water heater. Newbie at most plumbing.

cant be re-attached because the wood is so old and it cant get a hold. how can I fix that problem with out changing the frame? Its an old frame but the well designed frame would most likely be expensive to fabricate.

This may sound silly, but is it possible kill black mold on a wood fish tank stand by setting it out overnight in freezing weather? I already did the bleach treatment but I want to take it a step further because wood is porous.

Thanks

I purchased a 20 gallon aquarium and very stylish black stand but it doesn't look really pretty in my living room. I am very picky and think that the hood just looks ugly, I have seen aquarium canopys (which is a box that in-cases the hood to make it have a prettier appearance) but I can't just find one to buy for a 20 gallon. Anyone know how I would make it? I keep finding plans for 55 gallon tanks and up. Thank you in advance for your help!

OK...so I painstakingly removed the severely damaged wood veneer from an old library table. The wood underneath is not wonderful but I'd like to sand and refinish this surface instead of relaminating at this time (may relam. later.) There are several nicks and gouge marks in this surface. What can I use as a "filler" in these damaged areas? I don't plan to poly the top but rather do a stain/varnish/wax finish. Should I repair the damage before I put the product on or should I use some type of colored filler after I've finished the top? I'd love for this to turn out so that I have a nice writing surface. Any other suggestions/ recommendations appreciated. Is this whole thing just a lame idea???? Thanks

We have a dry erase wall, and kids have written a lot of things on it with dry erase markers. We want to take the markings off but some of it is kind of stuck... Do I use vinegar? Nail polish remover (what if that takes off the shiny layer??)? What do you recommend?
