I was trying to bake something in my oven, so I turned it on and set the temp. I waited for it to heat up since the 'on' light was on, and it worked earlier today. When I opened it up, however, I noticed that I couldn't hear it turning on and that it wasn't heating up. I have a gas-powered Whirlpool oven that I have no idea how to fix, but before I hire someone to look at it, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what to check or what may be wrong.

right now the stem wall has been poured and it seems smaller than I thought it would be. My builder tells me that it will seem even smaller after it is framed. Is this true?

I have got bugs and they are driving ME buggy! They are black, and are about the size of (maybe a bit smaller than...) a grain of rice. They crush very easily, and do NOT fly. They started out in a box of croutons (I think?!?) and have spread to any food I have open, and lately, to my bathroom towels, dirty clothes hamper, pots and pans, bathroom tissue paper, even my sheets, both on my bed and clean, folded ones in my closet! Each time they show up my hubby and I wonder where they are coming from and what can be done about them??? I've sprayed for them (temporary solution), and still they "live on". I've bathed my dog, but don't think he has anything to do with them. They just appear...sometimes crawling up the walls or going in the cracks by the baseboards! They're driving me nuts! Any ideas as to what they are and how to get rid of them?? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hi!!

My friend is doing a wedding reception for his sister and her husband. He asked me for help about decorating the place. I gave him a few ideas but we still would like more ideas though.

So far, we decided on food, music, and making our own centerpieces for the tables (round). But the hall is dark with no windows (it's in a church) and we want to decorate it like lighting, tulle, balloons, and maybe flowers (but prob not b/c of budget). We were wondering if anyone of u guys have some ideas abt how to decorate the room though since the color of wall is just this: http://www.tri-valley.k12.il.us/sjones/plywood.jpg

We can't go beyond the limit of like $1000 and would like to cut down expenses whenever we can. And plz keep in mind, that we are the only ones doing the decoration not some wedding planners, etc.

So guys, do you have any ideas about how to decorate this? Any other ideas/tips would help too ^_^

PS: we were thinking abt having red and either white/tan color for tables

Water entered the electrial connection for an over head light (chandelier). Subsequently, the dimmer failed but continued to work as a switch with maxium lighting. Replaced the dimmer with another. After two days the dimmer no longer works on the replacement. No blown circuit breakers. We also heard earlier two sort of buff noises and two of the chandelier sockets are dead. Any answers would be appreciated.

Please read to understand question!
My room had drywall installed about 5 years ago... nothing was done to it, it's just straight-up-you-can-still... My question is: after i put a bit of puddy in the nail holes, can i just prime right on top of that? (My mom says that putting primer/paint right on drywall makes the drywall release fumes! Is that true?) do i have to cover the drywall with some kind of mud/putty stuff first? Please answer!

We had a leak with our hot water heater. Some water may have squirted into the furnace. Now, when we turn the heat on, the furnace burners turn on then quickly turn off again. We used a heat gun to dry the electronics in the back of the furnace, but we still have this problem. Does anybody know what is wrong? Thanks

I am remodeling my kitchen (cabinets countertops and hardwood flooring) and doing the installation myself. The hardwood floors will run from the kitchen into the dining room. There is only a pennensula of cabinets/countertop dividing the two rooms. I am wondering if I should install the hardwood floors first, so that they run under the cabinets first, or install the cabinets and lay they floor around them. It seems to me that there are benefits of both. It may be easier to install the floors first, but may require more material. This would raise the cabinets, which may affect the sink plumbing requiring some new pipes. Installing the canbinets first would result in lower cabinets unless I raised them with extra subflooring. Also, which would be better to keep the stove and dishwasher at the right levels. Can the legs on these appliances be adjusted as necessary? Thanks!

The red wire on the original thermostat was connected to both Rh and Rc...the wire covering was stripped in two spots and the wire was wrapped around Rh (first) and the Rc (second/the end of the wire). The new thermostat already has a jumper between Rh and Rc. My question is do I still need to use the "homemade" jumper that the original had even though there is a factory supplied jumper? If not, does it matter/cause a problem if I use both? I have both connected now and all seems fine...the heat works but I haven't tried the A/C yet. Thanks!

I bought rice and when I got home and poured the rice in a pot, at least 100 bugs (LIVING) appeared. I called the health dept, and they stated that although they will fine the store, that bugs in rice is normal, if the rice is old. MY QUESTIONS: a) Do bugs in food indicate that the food is a hybrid, and thus that the food itself isn't good for humans? b) Do these bugs pose a health threat for humans (example: when the bugs excrete their waste into the food)?

Thanks

This is a plaque that displays a recipe for Cherry pie and another for Cinnamon bread. I would like to obtain more, however the store that sold them, has sold out and aren't going to get anymore in. The employee was able to tell me they came from Salem...that is all I know. The material reminds me of salt dough... please help, I would love to get more. Thanks...

I'm planning to completely redo my kitchen and I'm not sure where I should start. I want to tear out some paneling and put up drywall, rip up linoleum and lay either a ceramic or vinyl tile floor and install all new cabinetry. Is there any particular order I should perform these projects? I figure the cabinets come last, but I wasn't really sure as I expect to change the layout of the cabinets and add a breakfast bar or island. So should I do that and then the floors around it?

Okay, My mom was put incharge to take care of our close friends house and they gave her a key. Yesterday, we went over to water the plants, and the door was unlocked. When we walked in, there was a ladder set up and leaves from a plant on the floor. On the carpet, there were huge chunks of dirt throughout the house. Every door in the house was open, there were footprints and handprints everywhere. In the little boy's room, his big TV was gone. In the parent's room, the closet was open and it looked as if soeone had been looking for something because all the clothes were scattered and messy. I am thinking a robber might have broken into their house or something? What should we do?
