Okay, My mom was put incharge to take care of our close friends house and they gave her a key. Yesterday, we went over to water the plants, and the door was unlocked. When we walked in, there was a ladder set up and leaves from a plant on the floor. On the carpet, there were huge chunks of dirt throughout the house. Every door in the house was open, there were footprints and handprints everywhere. In the little boy's room, his big TV was gone. In the parent's room, the closet was open and it looked as if soeone had been looking for something because all the clothes were scattered and messy. I am thinking a robber might have broken into their house or something? What should we do?

You need to call 911 and report it to the police. Someone has obviously broken into their home and burgled it. You also need to take photos of the house and contact your close friends to apprise them of the situation - they may want to call their insurance company, etc. After the police come by and after you've taken photos you need to check to see if there's a broken window and board it up until your friends come back from their vacation and then try to clean up the mess for them.

You've got some serious explaining to do if there's no sign of forcible entry.

About the only thing you can hope for is that they've given the key to someone else who is known to be a risky person.

Don't touch anything in the house, call the friends (and this may be the last time you can use the term "friends") and find out if they want you to report it to the police, and to act as their representative in that regard.

Is this a serious question or a Joke?????
Common sense dictates that You should have called the police as soon as you saw what had happened as well as called your friends, if you had their telephone number to let them know. Better that you inform them from the beginning or were you intending on cleaning up the mess and buying them a new TV before they got home.?

Uhm. I definitely think someone broke into the house.

Just to be sure, I'd call the owner's house and tell them what had happened. If that sounds unusual to them then I would call the police and report a robbery.

You should not touch anything and you should call the police and file a report. You might have to request a detective to come out and take fingerprints/evidence photos.

There are a lot of robberies this time of year.

Definitely call your friends to tell them what happened to their house. And call the police..the neighborhood should be informed as well so they can keep a close eye for any suspicious activity.

GET OFF THE COMPUTER AND CALL THE POLICE. Hit 911 now! If your Mom is taking care of the house, I'd say it got robbed under her watch! But ya know what, it's not her fault. It happens every single day.

Please call now!

This happened yesterday? I'd guess they've finished looking and pilfering by now. Call the police right away.
